When looking for a late-1980s sports car collectible, its pretty darn hard to beat this 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z convertible. It has an exceptionally clean style, a well-coordinated color combo, and a loaded interior. But the real desirability comes from the G92 performance option. It made for a hot combo of fuel-injected V8 power, a five-speed, and a performance rear end. It was the kind of thing that made this looker also a contender in any crowd. A black Camaro is always an attention-getter. So its good to see that it was given a good respray later in life to keep this sunshine-friendly convertible shining in the sunlight. But the reason why we particularly like this one is it has the premium golden style that tastefully contrasts the black. The lower pinstriping, IROC-Z decals, and even the wheels all have a touch of gold. The convertibles were a relatively new addition to the Camaro lineup in 1988, and they had a terrific style with the flat rear deck with a well-integrated rear spoiler. The sporty style is also seen in the hood louvers and large dual exhaust tips. The soft top is a new piece, and so it looks great and fits nicely. But the reason for a convertible is to take it down and enjoy the world. So we especially like the Beachwood tan interior that goes so well with the exterior accents, and so it makes for a sporty black car with a sophisticated level of coordination. This is original in the right places, like the leather seats with the comfy cloth inserts (with an ideal placement for when youre wearing shorts.)
